There are many great steps into making professional collateral material for an organization. It is crucial to locate the logo and make sure that it is a vector file. If you choose to use the company's logo for any of the items in the stationary package, it needs to be a vector file. The vector file ensures that the image will be presented with high quality. The vector image can be edited on Adobe Indesign. A vector file can be made larger and smaller without losing the quality of the image.
When deciding colors for your business card, letterhead, and envelope it is important to highlight the colors that reflect the company that you are representing. For example, NAMI incorporates a darker lime green and soft "cornflower" blue. These colors are used all throughout the stationary package to ensure that we stay on brand. I incorporated the two colors on the front and back of the business card. If your logo has text on it, you must find a similar to font when listing all information on the card. When both fonts are similar, it will keep from distractions and everything will look balanced. Font selection is key!
Professor Sims shared his remarks on leaving a small section for people to take notes on the business card. I loved this idea because instead of pulling out your phone while networking, you can jot a few notes down on the card. I created a space for that on my card. I took the main color from the front of the business card and made a circle on the left card for anyone to take some notes on my card. I believe that this also encourages people to keep the card instead of taking a picture of it and throwing it away.
Cohesiveness is important when designing your stationary package. I incorporated borders around some of the texts to ensure that it looked more cohesive overall. I used the dotted line to make the proximity better. I did not include a mission statement in my green circle which was encouraged by my peer review. While their mission statement was not short enough, it would take away from the focus on the contact information provided on the card. I wanted to make sure that the business card, envelope, and letterhead had the same theme of a healthcare presence.
